River Dee.

The stretches from Llangollen to Bangor are predominantly privately

owned and contain some of The best spring Fish salmon pools on the Dee.

The public has little opportunity to fish for salmon here and any waters

open are solely for Trout & coarse fish.

The Llangollen Angling Association.

Have about a six mile stretch in and around the Llangollen

area{contact the Hardware shop in Llangollen} or Tel 01978861812 .

The wild stock is supplemented by stocking from various Clubs and

provides

excellent sport for wet and dry fly anglers, with many fish weighing

in at 2 to 3 lbs. plus. !!

Brown trout
The Dee is the largest of the North Wales rivers.It flows via Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) and on through Llandderfcl, Corwen and Llangollen before turning northwards across the Cheshire Plains to a long estuary downstream of Chester. This great Welsh river
holds good stocks of brown trout, too; on most stretches they average
around ten ounces, but bigger trout may give you the occasional surprise

The dee grayling

Apart from their abundance, what is most impressive about the grayling of the River Dee is their willingness to rise to the fly from dawn to dusk. On a good day your skills will be tested as long as you can spare!.
